Wine & Dine

Port Douglas, or Port as it is known locally, has been a shining beacon on Australia’s food map for many years, made famous by Nautilus Restaurant which is an iconic fine dining experience with exceptional food served in superb rainforest setting.

Chefs are particularly drawn to the area because of its fine local produce from succulent seafood to tropical fruit and there are cuisines of all kinds, with plenty of Asian, French and Mediterranean influences fused with the tastes of the tropics. There’s great coffee of course, with many sidewalk cafes to sit and watch the world go. There’s casual, all-day dining, plenty of options for families with children well catered for and fine dining to suit even the most discerning of palates.

What to look for on the menu? Local seafood incorporated into all kinds of fusion dishes or simply starring in its own right; the best steaks and meats from our Queensland producers, tropical fruits incorporated into a stunning array of dishes both sweet and savoury, local cheeses and dairy products, spices, herbs nuts and honey.

Naturally our self-catering properties feature gourmet kitchens and appliances and we have many celebrated chefs and dedicated cooks who love to holiday here and cook for (or be cooked for!) family and friends using our wonderful local ingredients.

Celebrities, executives and anyone who wants to relax in secure surroundings in complete privacy often bring their own people with them, but we can also arrange local chefs for anyone for in-house catering either full-time, for certain meals or for special occasion lunches and dinners. An exciting option is a teppanyaki dinner cooked in your house or apartment.

There are numerous restaurants to enjoy whilst on holiday in our region. Here is a selection of our favourite dining experiences and we highly recommend dinner reservations.
